If only the rocks could talk, we could ask them questions about what we see in the desert. Since the rocks are silent--or speak in a language we don't understand--we are left to wonder as we ponder the symbols and relics scattered across the sand and in the lava beds.

 

Bill Mann's books

Bill Mann has camped, prospected and led tours on the Mojave Desert for more than fifty years. His Guide to 50 Interesting and Mysterious Sites in the Mojave provides information and directions for exploring the Mojave. We used his Volumes 1 and 2, along with our GPS and Topo software, to find some of the sites he describes.
